How to Calculate Your Net Worth

Net worth is the single most important measure of financial health: Total Assets minus Total Liabilities. Our calculator tracks property, superannuation, investments, cash, and all debts.

Assets include everything you own with monetary value. For most Australians, the largest are the family home (median ~$800,000 in 2025), superannuation (average ~$170,000 for men aged 40-44), and savings.

Median household net worth is approximately $580,000 (ABS 2023-24). By age: 25-34 median ~$160,000; 55-64 median ~$960,000. L3 Advanced shows your percentile ranking.

For homeowners, property equity (value minus mortgage) is typically the largest wealth component. With a $650,000 home and $450,000 mortgage, equity is $200,000.

Increase assets (save more, invest wisely), reduce liabilities (pay down high-interest debt first), or both. Maximise super contributions up to $30,000 p.a. concessional, maintain an emergency fund, and invest surplus in diversified index funds.
